Welcome Home Mini

She came home after 6 days on the run! She was skinny and hungry, but happy to be home!

I Think they Call it Abstract Expressionism

After spending way too many hours on my newest hobby, some may call it an addiction to Pinterest, looking for fun ideas for first birthday parties I found something cool.  The idea was to set up artist easels for kids to finger paint at a birthday party so I decided to take that and change it into Ryter's first birthday masterpiece.

I ordered some non-toxic paint from Amazon because he eats everything and got a canvas from Hobby Lobby.  We took everything with us to Iowa, laid it out on the lawn, and let him have at it. Vain caught some pretty good pictures and the story of those photos makes it look like he was really into it.

It took a lot of coaxing to get him interested in the paint.

Ultimately he enjoyed eating the paint and running around with the paint box and a spoon instead.

The clean-up required nakedness and a hose.  The naked part was fun, the hose wasn't!

It's Been a While

I can't believe how long it's been since I wrote on my blog.  I think it's because before I spent so much time in Austin sitting around my house and now I'm much more busy.  Ryter is busier now plus I'm squeezing in much more outdoor time and much less computer time.  I was noticing this morning that after a little over a month of being here he's finally gotten to the point of not grabbing every picture frame and decorative item my mom has.  It's much easier to let him run around the house.  He can go up and down a single step now so going in and out of the screen porch is much less stressful and he's even learning how to ride the tricycle.

We spent 2 weeks in Iowa visiting Vain's family and it was great.  Ryter got a lot of time in with his cousins Sofia and Christian and I think they enjoyed it as much as he did!  The last time they saw each other he was only 5 weeks old so this was definitely a more exciting visit for the kids!  I ate too much as usual though :)

We had a little graduation celebration for Vain.  Tony and I are usually the only ones that follow the rules.  "Look at the camera. Don't entertain the baby. Leave that up to the photographer."

And a birthday party for Ryter.

We're also looking for my parents cat Mini Kitty.  She has been missing since Thursday and we're all hoping for a return in the near future.  Maybe she just got curious since she's never been an outside cat until recently.  We are very hopeful!
