25 Weeks-Sedona, Arizona

We managed to take a trip to Sedona over the last couple of weeks. Just a long weekend for one of my oldest friend's wedding. Everything was beautiful, couldn't have a more perfect place for a wedding. Thursday we spent the day traveling, meeting some of the girls at the airport, and driving our sweet mini van through the mountains. With the wedding shower, welcome dinner, wedding, and Sunday brunch there was only a little time left for sight seeing. We took a 6-mile hike on Friday-yup, pregnant girl on a 6-mile hike-and climbed up and down the red rocks. I have to say I'm pretty proud of myself because I climbed higher than everyone else in our group. Vain dressed as a bee keeper to avoid a sun burn and the back of Chrissy's legs from the knee down got a pretty sweet sun burn. Funny looking in a short dress, but i don't think anybody noticed.

24 and 26 Weeks

Well, not much has happened in the world of baby since last time I posted other than she/he got bigger. The car seat was delivered a couple of weeks ago, so now I have to figure out how to use the thing. I have a little doll that my niece left behind a couple of years ago so I'm going to practice strapping her in and have Vain practice too so when we leave the hospital for our first drive we look like old pros. April 20 will be my last monthly dr. apt. and then I will start going bi-weekly. Eeeek, it's getting close.

The fabric has been officially chosen for the baby's room and my mom is making the bedding and curtains as we speak. Below is the main bunny fabric and one piece of the furniture.

This week I also received all kinds of neutral baby clothes and other accessories that Lucy gathered from Sky's kiddos in Toronto. For those of you that don't know, Lucy is Vain's mom and Sky is Vain's sister. I don't think I'll need to purchase any clothes, except maybe some pink things after the baby is born...a girl of course. The drawers are almost already full. Thank you!

Here I am at 24 and 26 weeks.

20 and 22 Weeks

My mom was here a couple weekends ago and so we went baby shopping, set up a registry, ordered the crib and rearranged the furniture for baby. The crib won't come for 10 weeks...eeek...how can I wait that long? In the mean time I suppose I can continue shopping for fabric for curtains and bedding and pick out a paint color, but I don't want to do anything permanent until the crib actually arrives.

So, as far as baby is concerned, the movements started pretty consistently over the past week. Vain still can't feel him/her very often, but I can. It's an interesting feeling and sometimes a little freaky, but I'm getting used to it. The cat was perched on my belly last weekend when the baby decided to do some acrobatics and deformed my stomach. The cat was incredibly alarmed and unimpressed by being bothered. Oh boy, I wonder how she'll be once the baby actually arrives. So, here I am at 20 and 22 weeks.

18 Weeks

My photographer had some kind of grand idea for these...not sure what to think. I'm clearly not a model and my photographer clearly lied about his profession. Oh well, the belly is really what you're all looking at right? So, we had our ultrasound and everything is a-okay. The doctor says the baby is normal which is saying a lot considering his/her parents. So, Vain did a lot of searching on the very short fuzzy video the ultrasound technician gave us to see if he could see the "hamburger bun" or the "extra finger", but what may have convinced him that we're having a girl is that the baby was opening and closing his/her mouth wildly and he figured only a girl would already be talking in the womb. The ultrasound technician could only find one ear so we decided that from this point forward the baby would be named van Gogh, and the lucky part about that is, if it's a boy we've already got our "V" name.

16 Weeks

I'm a little behind in posting. Technically I was 16 weeks last Friday, but I've got the picture. I'll add it later today. The only new things are stretchy waist bands and a few little kicks.

Yesterday was the first day I felt the baby kicking on and off for a good 3 hours. I did have a dr. apt. yesterday and the nurse confirmed that it was kicking that I was feeling so now I know exactly what it feels like. I'm sure it'll only get more obvious from here.

And, my low rise jeans are officially a thing of the past. I've tried the little button extender but it just doesn't seem to work that well for me. Thats okay though. I can handle the stretchy waist band as long as they continue to stay low rise and cute! None of this over the belly upside down shirt kind of stuff!

15 Weeks

Well, here I am already at 15 weeks. Nothing much has changed, except for that belly. Woah, what a difference a week makes! Saw some friends last night that I haven't seen since I got pregnant and it was fun to have the belly reaction. Most of my friends and family I either haven't seen at all; or see everyday and so the changes aren't really obvious to them. I suppose now is about the time that the pregnancy comments start from strangers at the grocery store too since it's clear now that I'm pregnant and not just fat. I've heard interesting stories from friends about who approached them and in the strangest places. I'm excited for some humor from strange people who think my belly is their business. Of course, as time goes by it may seem less humorous.

This weekend is saved for crib shopping, taking down the Christmas decorations, and most importantly the Packers!

14 Weeks

I'm already a little bit behind because I've hit the beginning of the 16th week but I'm just posting the beginning of the 14th week photos. Oh well, I'm terrible at blogging. It will be a miracle if I can continue this throughout the pregnancy. Anyway, I thought this would be the best way for everyone who doesn't live in Texas to see my belly grow. I think my pregnancy is pretty typical so far. I had morning sickness-or all day sickness-from 6 to 10 weeks and I still have a day every now and then where I feel a little nauseous, but that's all it was. Its nothing a little Mexican food can't fix. Sadly, my butt is getting bigger, but I'm still wearing regular clothes albeit some are stretchy leggings.

So, for those of you that don't know, my due date is July 9 just two days before our 2nd anniversary. Of course, we won't know until the day arrives, but our anniversary and the due date are an interesting combination of 7s, 9s, and 11s. (07-11-09 and 07-09-11). Knowing me, I look for meaning in everything so, I wonder if those mean anything? July 2011 also falls within the Chinese year of the rabbit. I decided on bunnies are my gender neutral decor for the nursery before I knew that, and so that must mean something too. Who knows, maybe it just means my baby is going to come out with a fluffy tail or long floppy ears.

Well, not much else to tell at this time. The picture is at 14 weeks. Hopefully the pictures will get better. Not sure what Vain was thinking taking a photo of me from below my center line...nothing like making me feel like a hippo! Love you baby!
